Well it would appear that what might have been the greatest EU stuff up to date has finally been resolved.

Recently the EU decided that they would clamp down on the environmental impact of disposal of electrical and electronic equipement. Specifically they banned the use of certain toxic metals from the manufacture process – lead, to name one. A pipe organ has an electric pump on the side and thus is deamed to be electrical equipment – they also have pipes made of lead. So it was illegal to manufacture a new pipe organ with lead pipes or to manufacture a new lead pipe for an existing organ – repair of existing pipes was allowed.

Now, however, all is fine. The EU have allowed pipe organ manufacturers to do their jobs unhindered. See here for the press release.
