Minimalism

While pondering the definition of music, and whether or not 4′ and 33″ by John Cage constitutes actual music, or simply an oppertunity to make no noise, I have been listening to Philip Glass whom, it would appear, has managed to produce some amazing music all in the name of minimalism. If any of you have not as yet heard it , I suggest you listen to the sound track to Kundun. It really is superb.

Go on! Live a little.

I will if Limewire has it….

Whenever I’ve considered that specific Cage track out loud, responses have generally either been along the lines of “yes except if you hand it in under your A-level composition work” (wouldn’t that constitute plagarism anyway?); or “well, I like it more than any of his other work”. Which is as valid an opinion as any, I guess…..
