which peanuts character are you?

Snoopy
Good grief!
Just like Snoopy,
you may appear to be dependent on others, but in the end you usually
get your own way. You are much more imaginative and talented than the
average person (beagle), but are just as likely to be found sleeping on
the roof of your house as you are to be doing anything productive.

United Feature Syndicate says: Snoopy is an extroverted beagle
with a Walter Mitty complex. He is a virtuoso at every endeavor- at
least in his daydreams atop his doghouse. He regards his master,
Charlie Brown, as “that round-headed kid” who brings him his supper
dish. He is fearless though prudently cautious about “the cat next
door.” He never speaks- that would be one human trait too many- but he
manages to convey everything necessary in facial expressions and
thought balloons. A one-man show with superior intelligence and vivid
imagination, he has created such multiple personalities as: Joe Cool,
World War I Flying Ace, Literary Ace, Flashbeagle, Vulture, Foreign
Legionnaire, etc.

Repiano Rah!

Following a flash decision by the Musical Director and Principle Cornet of Capital Concert Brass, I now am in the estemed position of owning the Repiano Cornet Seat. For those of you who don’t know what that means - it rocks. Its a very very good thing, and proves that (ignoring all the people better than me) I am the BEST!

Also, on news just in, I have a phat (TM) cheque from the Inland Revenue which means, in addition to the cash I’ve got for selling my Baritone, I’ll be able to buy some hardcore trumpet action in the comming weeks. Watch this space :-)

The Meaning of Art

I’m currently in work, and am waiting for a phone call before I can proceed to do any work, so while waiting I have been musing on what constitutes art. By that, I mean what separates something which is art, from something which is not art.

So far my musings have lead me to a working definition of - “Art is any form of self expression which can be appreciated by others”. This encompases the selfishness of art. Art is definately all about the artist and very little about the audience, but without the audience it would be nothing. Or would it? I am beginining to doubt this. A quick google search (horay for google) has lead me to another, slightly better definition - “art is anything which people add to their “output” which is not functionally necessary and is other than the default properties of that output”.

This is an excellent definition, because using my initial definition, a wank could be art. I don’t believe that a wank is art, therefore my definition doesn’t fit with my understanding of art. The revised “google” definition, however, discounts a wank for the most part.

I am pleased that a wank isn’t art.
