Yesterday, in a slightly drunken mad maths conversation which occasionally takes place in the living room of our West Ealing house, conversation turned to the largest number ever used in a mathematical proof. This number is Graham’s Number and is so stageringly vast it takes a good few minutes to realise exactly how big it is. It has been calculated that if you convert all of the matter in the universe to ink, there isn’t enough ink to write this number down in standard decimal notation. I’m not going to bore you with the definition, or the mathematical significance of Graham’s number. I, instead, have something much more boring to blog about!
I searched MathWorld for “Grahams Number” (in a moment of gramatical oversight) and to my delight it returned no results and instead provided a link for me to search for
Graham’s Number. I am extremely pleased that even internationally acclaimed mathematic institutions are promoting the use of good grammar.

Adding more weight to the argument that some geeks just have too much time on their hands, someone has spent far too long implementing the original lemmings in Javascript and CSS. Very very silly indeed. Very well done though. See this link.

I am now officially ill. I’ve seen a doctor and everything. I have a Streptococcus Pyogenes infection of the throat, or tonsillitis, as it is more normally known. According to Wikipedia Streptococcus is a genus of spherical, Gram-positive bacteria of the phylum Firmicutes. I have no idea at all what that means, but I’m sure all the medics currently revising (or vising?) for path will be able to explain!

Vocabulary Vixen! Congratulations! You got 15 correct answers! |
You sexy thing! You probably own a book or two. You can communicate in

ENFP – The Champion You scored 100% I to E, 10% N to S, 47% F to T, and 52% J to P! |
Your type is known as the Champion type, which is part of the larger
group called idealists. Nothing occurs that does not have some deep and
ethical significance in your eyes. You see life as an exciting drama.
You are very charismatic, yet tend to be too harsh on yourself for not
being as genuine as you think you should be. 3% of the population
shares your type.
As a romantic partner, you need to talk about what is going on in your
life. You are a strong supporter for your partner’s efforts to grow and
change and be happy. You need to feel that same support from your
partner. Expressive, optimistic, and curious, you are eager to enjoy
new experiences with your partner, whom you wish to be your confidant
and soul mate, as well as play mate. You are uncomfortable sharing
negative emotion, though, and tend to withdraw from confrontation and
process your feelings privately. You feel most loved when your partner
appreciates your creativity, accepts your uniqueness, and sees you as
the compassionate person you are. You need to hear your partner tell
you how much you mean to them and would love if they did thoughtful
spontaneous things to demonstrate it.
Your group summary: idealists (NF)
Your type summary: ENFP

Firstly I should apologise for my rather poor show in the updating of this blog. I’m not going to though, cause its mine and I can do with it what I want. I could make all kinds of promises as to the future service level the general public can expect from this site but, with the firm knowledge that any such promises will be firmly broken, I shall make no such attempt.
There are several things which have been bothering me; bothering is probably only appropriate to describe the first, but I’m going to use it to describe both anyway, as too many adjectives may seem greedy. The first is possibly a semantic matter: I have no idea how to punctuate a stream of contiousness. While this seems tame: the kind of problem that many would not worry about it; it concerns me quite deeply. There appear to be three choices: the comma, the elipsis, or the semicolon. Observe:
I walk in, notice a newspaper, a girl, blonde, crossword half done, blue eyes.
I walk in… notice a newspaper… a girl… blonde… crossword half done… blue eyes.
I walk in; notice a newspaper; a girl; blonde; crossword half done; blue eyes.
Which of these is correct? I should point out that the stream of contiousness is not very good here. This is deliberate, as I do not want the quality of the example to distract from the illustration.
The second “issue” I have is the pure divinity of a certain “Cherie Gears”. Observe her website here Her website. Her voice is amazing, she looks wonderful, and has singularly no idea that I exist, let alone that I know that she exists. Such is life
