Fujitsu Siemens Amilo D 1845

Many months ago, on this very blog, I mentioned to all that I had recently purchased a shiney new laptop. The laptop has been going strong and I am about to embark on the long slog which will be the configuration of Gentoo Linux. Interestingly, while searching for information regarding this laptop, I stumbled across none other than this page! I therefore indend to document my progress with laptop configuration on here so that other people might suffer less pain.
Surprisingly, getting the machine to boot was no more complicated than following the Gentoo instructions. The next step, installing and configuring X, is however much more involved. If you are reading this with the intention of running X with DRI working, I suggest that you run with a 2.6.x kernel – It makes life a _lot_ easier!

Band Contests and the like…

After approximately three months of intense practice into “Variations for Brass Band”, Capital Concert Brass, for whom I play 3rd Cornet, managed to achieve a respectable, if slightly dissapointing, 7th in this years London and Southern Counties Regional Contest. Have a read of the 4 Bars Rest Retrospective. We’re now jazzing ourselves up for folkestone. That’ll be fun :-)
